As a pastor and a leadership coach, I began a weekly curb sign ministry in front of our house at the beginning of the pandemic–56 life-giving and encouraging weekly “messages,” over 100 neighbors expressing appreciation.
The yellowing flag flying in the background was flown over the US Capitol in my honor 45 years ago, soon after my high school graduation ceremony held in the White House rose garden shaking hands with the President. I just took it out of its box and flew it for the first time. Today, I am an especially proud American citizen filled with hope and gratitude for the resiliency of the democracy in which I live, and the peaceful succession of Presidential power.
